Family

A group of individuals who co-reside and form a specific “nuclear family” wherein only an independent
grouping of parents and children are included in the family model regardless of whether related or
nonrelated family members reside and contribute to the same household.
Family Household
-
A group of individuals who co-reside and are connected by blood or marital ties. This category excludes
those who co-reside in a household but are not connected by blood or marital bonds.
Household
-
A group of individuals who co-reside, regardless of blood or marital ties.
Typical Family
-
Statistically representative of the majority family type in a given place at a given time.
Living Wage
-
The wage level that is necessary to afford a decent standard of living for workers and their families,
taking into account the country circumstances and calculated for the work performed during the normal
hours of work[1].
Marital Ties
-
Marital ties reference married individuals as well as those with ties that are equivalent to marriage and
reflective of local cultural norms. This might include domestic partnerships that provide legal
recognition, or instances of polyandry and polygamy where legal and accepted as typical in local culture.
Normal Hours of Work
-
The “normal hours” of work refers to the time at the disposal of the employer within the legal working
time determined by regulations and national practices. This definition excludes overtime.
